You've Got a Message! | Present Continuous

This activity helps students practise the present continuous for future arrangements. Each slide shows a message from a friend inviting them to go out. Students must refuse politely and give an excuse by explaining their current plans.

How to Use

1. Show students one of the message slides from a “friend.”
2. Ask them to refuse the invitation politely.
3. Students must make an excuse using the present continuous tense
   (e.g., “I can’t, I’m meeting my cousin this evening.”).
4. Repeat with different messages to build fluency and confidence.
5. Encourage students to personalise their plans and vary their responses.
