Tic Tac Toe & Autumn Goals is a fun and interactive warm-up activity for A1–B2 learners. Students combine the classic game of tic tac toe with speaking practice, discussing their autumn goals and plans while engaging in friendly competition.
How to Use
Prepare a tic tac toe grid for the students or project one on the board.
Each square of the grid contains questions about autumn goals and plans.
Students play tic tac toe in pairs or small groups, answering a question in each square before marking it with X or O.
Example questions: If you can do one big thing this autumn, what is it?
What is one autumn habit you want to start?
Encourage full-sentence answers and follow-up questions to practise speaking fluency.
Continue playing until one student wins or the grid is filled, ensuring everyone gets a chance to discuss their autumn goals.
Optionally, discuss answers as a class to expand vocabulary and inspire more conversation about autumn plans.
