Pick Your Wands | Teens

Pick Your Wands | Teens is a cozy and creative warm-up activity designed for A2–B1 teenage students. It encourages meaningful conversation, helps students express preferences, and adds a touch of magic to your autumn-themed lessons. Students explore fun “magic wand” and “magic spell” options to reflect on what would make their days cozier, easier, or more productive.

How to Use

1. Present the different magic wands and magic spells to your students.
2. Ask each student to choose one option that would help improve their day—make it cozier, more productive, or simply more fun.
3. Encourage students to explain why they chose that wand or spell.
4. Use follow-up questions to keep the conversation going:
   • How would this spell help you at school?
   • Would you use it every day? Why or why not?
5. Allow students to compare their choices in pairs or small groups to promote more natural speaking practice.

This warm-up works perfectly at the beginning of class to set a relaxed, imaginative atmosphere while boosting students’ speaking confidence.
