A2 Autumn Present Simple Present Continuous

Now or Always? is an autumn-themed grammar activity designed for A2 learners to practise and review the present simple and present continuous tenses. The material features 10 slides with photos of autumn scenes, giving students a fun and visual way to describe daily routines versus actions happening right now.

How to Use

  1. Display the slides one by one to the students.
  2. Ask students to describe the photos using either the present simple or the present continuous, depending on the context.
    • Example: I always drink tea, but today I'm drinking coffee.
  3. Encourage students to:
    • Compare their usual routines with what is happening in the photo,
    • Use full sentences for practice,
    • Speak in pairs or share with the class for interaction.
  4. Use as a speaking or writing activity to reinforce tense usage.
  5. Optionally, turn it into a game by awarding points for creative or correct sentences.
