Love or Pass | Winter Edition

Love or Pass | Winter Edition is a flexible speaking warm-up that gets students talking by reacting to common winter habits, plans, and attitudes. Using visual prompts with short captions, students express opinions, agree or disagree, and give simple reasons, making it ideal for quick engagement at the start of a lesson.

How to use

1. Show one picture at a time or give students the full set.

2. Students read the caption and decide whether they agree or disagree with the idea.

3. Students say “Love” if they agree or like it, or “Pass” if they disagree or don’t like it.

4. Ask students to explain their choice, adjusting support by level:

   • A2: short opinions and simple reasons (I love it because… / I pass because…).
   • B1–B2: fuller explanations, comparisons, or follow-up questions (Why do you think so? Would you do this every winter?).

This activity works well as a whole-class warm-up, pair discussion, or quick speaking circle to activate winter-themed vocabulary and opinions.
