Haunted House Sale

Get ready for a spooky, spider-filled, Halloween-themed speaking activity! This material introduces five haunted houses, each with eerie descriptions and creepy features. Students practise house vocabulary and use there is / there are while trying to “sell” these haunted properties to their partners.

How to Use

1. Show students one of the five haunted house descriptions.
2. Give them time to read and note the main features.
3. Students “sell” the house to a partner by describing it using there is / there are.
4. Encourage them to make the houses sound appealing (or extra spooky!) to persuade their partner.
5. Rotate houses so each student practises with multiple descriptions.
6. Finish with a fun vote on which haunted house is the “best buy.”
