Childhood Christmas Memories

Childhood Christmas Memories is a no-prep, ready-to-use grammar activity that helps B1–B2 learners practise used to and would in a natural, nostalgic context. Using childhood photo album images, students describe past habits, routines, and memories connected to Christmas and winter holidays.

How to Use

• Each slide shows one photo from a childhood photo album with a short caption.
• Students look at the photo and read the caption carefully.
• Ask students to describe the memory using:
  • used to for past states and general habits
  • would for repeated actions in the past
• Encourage students to expand their answers with details and emotions.
• For extra practice, students can compare memories, guess whose photo it might be, or share their own childhood Christmas experiences.
