Speaking Activities
B1 B2 Work

This activity invites students to explore personality adjectives and job-related vocabulary through a practical, real-world scenario. The company is rapidly expanding and must hire 10 new team members. Each job requires specific skills, strengths, and personality traits. Students read each Candidate Profile and decide which person is the best match for each role.

How to Use

  1. Introduce the scenario — Explain that the company needs to hire 10 new employees, each with a different role, skill set, and personality requirement.
  2. Study the table — Students take a look at the list of job vacancies that have to be matched with the people.
  3. Read the profiles — Students read through all Candidate Profiles carefully, paying attention to traits, experience, and strengths.
  4. Match candidates to jobs — Students assign each candidate to one of the 10 available roles based on the information provided.
  5. Justify choices — Ask students to explain why they chose each candidate:
    • “I chose ___ for this role because…”
    • “This job requires someone who is…”
  6. Pair or group discussion — Students compare their choices with a partner or group and discuss any differences.
  7. Extension (optional) — Students can create an additional candidate or job role, invent strengths and traits, and present their ideas to the class.
